20 fun things to do in self-isolation or quarantine- part 2

May 4, 2020

Month one of Quarantine/self-isolation is coming to a close and many, me included, are heading into month 2. I live in New York so the end doesn’t seem near the end and for many other states/countries, they also have a few more weeks indoors.

I’ve recently taken up crocheting as a new hobby. This is my last week of school so I am going to have a lot of time on my hands and I’m also thinking about starting a few new projects, like cleaning out my closet, deep cleaning the house, gardening, color coding my craft table……exciting stuff 🙂

What have you been up to?

Bored? Stir crazy? Un -motivated? Check out my list of 20 fun things to do during your time off to help beat the quarantine blues.

After this post be sure to check out part 1 of this post HERE for 20 more fun things to do!

Try out new recipes

Most of us are not going to have a break like this again for awhile so take advantage of this time to try out some new recipes!

Keep your immune system strong

It’s important, not just during this pandemic, but all the time to keep your immune system strong. Taking the right vitamins and eating healthy is a great way to get started!

Check out these immune boosting recipes here.

Organize a space

Go through your whole house and pick spaces that need cleaning/organizing. Spring is here so it’s the perfect time for a spring cleaning!

Craft

Crafting is a great activity to pass time on and to relax you- diminishing feelings of stress and boredom.

At home spa day

The perfect relaxation is to have your very own DIY at home spa day.

  • Face masks
  • Cucumbers over eyes
  • Whiten teeth
  • Relaxing bath
  • Paint finger/toe nails
  • Hair mask
  • Skin care
  • Exfoliate
  • Steam

Go hiking/running/walking

Waking up early to watch the sunrise on your hike or going for a warm afternoon run/walk is one of my favorite things to do. I especially love going for a run 7 am in the morning. It’s a great way to start the day, natural mood booster, and it will be quiet so you won’t need to worry about running into others.

Stick to your schedule

One of my most helpful tips to get rid of quarantine blues is to stick to your regular schedule. I wake up at 7 am each day, go for my run, eat, school, tv, snacks, yoga, crafts……. Having a consistent schedule is very helpful to keep you motivated and making this time inside seem a little more tolerable.

Learn calligraphy

Writing in calligraphy isn’t just impressive but also beautiful. Here is my favorite calligraphy kit from Michaels.

Sit outside and enjoy spring

Sitting outside with a good book, cup of tea or listening to music. Now is a beautiful time of year when the flowers are blooming, birds chirping, the warm spring breeze.

Reconnect with who you are and the things you enjoy

Use this time to get back to the activities you love. Dancing, running, writing, reading, singing, crafting, blogging…..

Write a letter to yourself

Write a letter to yourself in 10-20 + years, bury it or put someplace safe and open it on the date written on the envelope. 10-20 years later!

I recently opened a letter from my kindergarten self and what a trip down memory lane! 🙂

Make a list

Make a list of things you’ve been wanting to do and DO IT! Whether it’s cleaning out the closet, finishing your gardening, buying some new pots and pans, or competing your spring reading list, there is no time the present!

Dress up

Sometimes all we need is a nice dose of fancy dressing to get us out of our funk. Putting on some makeup, taking off the sweats for a night, and cooking a fancy restaurant dinner, just at home. 🙂

Watch YouTube

You tube is filled with so many awesome tutorials, like learning how to crochet, making your own sweaters, knitting mittens, building cabinets, or making crafts, and all the videos are FREE!

Stay healthy

Eating healthy, working out, keeping clean (showering, skincare..) will help beat quarantine blues. Let’s be realistic, eating unhealthy can make us feel like crap, as does not working out like we used to. So get moving each day, eat healthy…. these will also help beat the blues and keep our mood stable. 🙂

Re-design your room

Head over to pinterest and search for room designs and maybe one will spark your interests! Pinterest has tons of great DIY ideas to add to your home.

Facetime with friends and family

Catch up, cook over face time with family/friends, play a game….

Have a movie night

Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime, On Demand, Cable… find a favorite movie, make some popcorn and have a movie night with the fam/friends.

Check out part 1 of my post for a list of great movies and shows to watch. 20 fun things to do during self isolation or quarantine.

Meditate/try yoga

Meditating and/or doing yoga is a great way to relax, let your mind escape, and let you have some alone time.

Setting the mood– light some candles, put on a cute yoga outfit (alo yoga, fabletics, lululemon), dimming the lights, using an essential oil diffuser, and playing relaxing music.

Go through your closet and donate clothes you don’t wear

Donating clothes I no longer wear is one of my favorite things to do. Giving back to those less fortunate is especially helpful during this time.
