My top 6 favorite items at Trader Joes- my first review: new page on blog

April 15, 2019

Hello readers and welcome to the newest page on my blog, “reviews”. Here you will find all of the product reviews I am sharing along with some my own personal favorite products. I decided to launch this new segment because a follower reached out to me and said that they would love for me to post product reviews. I thought about it and decided it would be a great idea!

One of my favorite places to shop is Trader Joe’s: an affordable, adorable, and very friendly place where you can find all sorts or delicious treats, unique products and the best part, environmentally friendly cleaning products. Ever since I was a small kid I have loved this store. They have some of the best coffee & chocolate in town, as well as a place where you can find some very unique food products that you would not think existed.

Today’s blog post is going to compile a list of my top 6 favorite food products found at Trader Joe’s along with my 100% honest review of them. If you decide to try out any of these items then make sure to contact me and tell me how they were.

ENJOY today’s post and the newest segment on my bog 🙂

Everything but the bagel seasoning

As you can see from the pictures, there is only a small amount of seasoning left in the bottle which pretty much speaks for itself.

My all time favorite bagels are everything, but since becoming paleo I have yet to find a bagel that lives up to a classic New York City one, and this really stinks. For years I have just lived without them in my life, missing them and truly wishing that I could indulge in them again. That is when my mom mentioned to me that Trader Joe’s sells “everything but the bagel seasoning” and that is when my eyes lit up! That weekend I immediately went there and purchased myself some and since then I have not used pepper or salt to season my avocado toast.

This seasoning is perfect if you are looking to taste that garlicky poppy- seedy taste that everything bagels are known for. It’s low calorie with only 5 calories in 1/4 tsp and is a great way to add some unique flavor to your avocado toast, eggs, potatoes or even to some plain homemade bagels! You can seriously not go wrong with this seasoning and will not regret spending the money.

Roasted pepers

Roasted peppers are one of my favorite party appetizers. For every party we host we take a trip to a deli near me that sells hands down the most amazing and flavorful roasted peppers. They are covered in oils, spices and the best part is he sells them in large tubs so we go to town! The only problem is that I have a sensitive stomach so all that oil really bothers it and causes me to not feel well, so, yes I still do eat them at parties and I just deal with the ramifications. But then a few months ago I was in Trader Joe’s and I saw their own brand of “roasted peppers” in water. I was weary about purchasing them because the “in water” part through me off a tad but I purchased them anyway and boy am I sure glad I did!

Are you looking for a lower calorie option, healthier, and oil free roasted peppers that you can add to your salads, burgers, sandwiches and warps? Then go pick yourself up some of these peppers because you will not regret it. These peppers have a nice grilled taste that are 100% fresh and are 100% better for my stomach. I am not saying the oiled ones are not good I am just saying that eating those every night is not the healthiest option. Which is why I am so glad Trader Joe’s sells these. Same great taste but less in calories.

Gluten-free & Dairy free frozen pancakes

Anyone who knows me knows that pancakes are my favorites breakfast meal in the entire universe!!! I eat them at least once a week covered in my favorite “Trader Joe’s grade A maple syrup” and earth balance butter.

The only problem is that some days I don’t have time to make a batch of pancakes either because I am running late for school or I just don’t feel like cleaning up the mess. This is where the “Trader Joes gf & df frozen pancakes” come in handy. Not only are they pre-packaged into 3’s so you do not have to open up a whole box and deal with them becoming stale. But, they are also light, fluffy and taste amazing toped with syrup and/or  butter 🙂 Or, if you are looking for a healthier option you can add some blackberry jam (my all time fav) or eat them plain. Whatever floats your boat 🙂

On days when I don’t have time to make pancakes I open up one of the packages, pop 3 of them in the toaster (for me they take about 4-5 minutes to become crispy and soft), take them out and enjoy. If you are running very late then you can take them on the go since they are small and travel friendly. In addition, if you are looking to make a gourmet meal out of them for the family, then you can fry up some “Trader Joe’s all natural sausage” or their “all natural bacon”, maybe add some of their “smoked salmon”, eggs, yogurt, or their incredible “raisin bread”, and you are good to go! You really cannot go wrong with buying these pancakes, they are just that tasty!

Salmon

One of the staples in my diet is salmon. I love salmon sushi or a nice grilled piece of my favorite Trader Joe’s fresh fish. While going into stores and purchasing salmon from their fish market is nice the Trader Joe’s salmon is just as good, and in my opinion better.

They sell their salmon in a sealed package which makes sure to hold in all the freshness and delicious goodness. I have been buying their salmon for many months and I have not had one complaint about it. It is fresh and if you don’t believe me, the nice pink color of the picture will show you. All the packages are around the same size but some of them have a bigger piece of fish for the larger families. OOO and did I forget to mention, it comes pre-cut! Yes, that’s right it comes pre- cut into two nice sized and pan friendly pieces so you don’t have to do the dirty work.

If you are looking to implement more healthy dinners into your family’s diet while not spending a ton of money, then you cannot go wrong with the “Trader Joe’s salmon”. Their fish is fresh, very affordable, delicious, and will make a great addition into your meals.

Midnight moo

Who else loves chocolate? I know I am not the only one 🙂

Almost every day I eat a piece of chocolate because why not! Life’s too short to not eat chocolate…… every day…….twice a day. 🙂 I love chocolate milk, chocolate on pancakes, basically chocolate on everything, so as you can imagine when I saw this product a few years ago I knew it was meant for me. Do you believe in fate? Because I sure do. 🙂

Not only can you add “Trader Joe’s midnight moo” to practically everything, even on the tip of your finger to lick, you can even add it to milk! Yes that’s right, the best chocolate syrup in town can be added to a tall glass of cold milk, hot milk or even to your morning cup of coffee.

This product has a sweet sugary chocolate taste that although may not be the healthiest option to eat every single day it does make the perfect snack to add when you want to treat yourself or when you simply just want some CHOCOLATE. Take a trip to Trader Joe’s and purchase yourself some of this delicious midnight moo to keep in your pantry when you want a midnight snack. MOOOOOOOOO……. ! Even the cows love it!

Mango ginger chutney

I learned about this product when one day we were in Trader Joe’s and their sample station was open. Now I normally don’t eat samples but I saw mango and ginger so I had too. I adore all things mango, it is my second favorite fruit, and you cannot go wrong with adding it to every meal! 🙂

The “Trader Joe”s mango ginger chutney” has very small pieces of pepper in it so you taste a nice little kick but the sweetness of the mango pairs perfectly with it. This chutney can be used to top salads, toast, burgers, or wraps. I mean come on, isn’t ketchup getting pretty old; so why not switch it up and buy some of this mango-tastic chutney! Not only is it amazing but it is also healthy so you won’t feel guilty about eating it.

Are you looking for a great alternative to add some spice and flavor to your meals? Then take a trip to Trader Joe’s and buy some of this delicious chutney that you will NOT regret purchasing! Your friends, family, everyone will love it and want to pick themselves up a bottle of deliciousness in a jar.
