Helpful Holiday cooking hacks- blogmas day 11
Blogmas day 11: WOW I cannot believe tomorrow is the last blogmas post and that it is Christmas Eve Eve! 🙂 It has been so much fun blogging these past few weeks and I am so thankful for all of the wonderful comments and follows my blog has received this month, it means the world to me. Happy holidays everyone and Merry Christmas!
For anyone who is hosting Christmas dinner this year today’s post is one you do not want to miss reading! I am sharing helpful Holiday cooking hacks that will make your whole experience on Christmas way easier. You will not break a sweat and will be able to relax and enjoy time with your family.
ENJOY 🙂
Save money with creative storage.
Opening last year’s organizers to find broken ornaments and tangled lights is a real bummer. Instead, store ornaments in egg cartons and wrap Christmas lights around clothes hangers. This way, you will start each season on a good note and save some money too!
Revive Dry Turkey with Chicken stock
Pour chicken stock over your overcooked bird. This will add some much-needed moisture and prevent a potential holiday meltdown!
Pulverize Candy Canes for a Holiday
Grab a handful of candy canes, add them in the food processor and grind into a fine powder. Now you have delicious candy cane dust which is perfect for sprinkling on hot chocolate, desserts, Christmas cocktails or whatever strikes your fancy.
Add Baking Powder for Extra-Fluffy Mashed Potatoes
Looking for creamy, lighter-than-air mashed potatoes that are as fluffy as clouds? Try adding a pinch of baking powder: the heat from the potatoes mixes with the baking powder to create tiny air pockets. Science rules!
Keep Mashed Potatoes Toasty in a Slow Cooker
Here’s and idea that will make your life easier. Make the mashed potatoes ahead of time, and store them in a slow cooker set at a low heat, this will keep them warm and ready to serve in addition to freeing up the stove top for all the other things you have to cook.
Candy Cane Place Card Holder
Tie together two candy canes, which then become a perfect Christmasy holder for place cards or tags.
Use a Slow Cooker for a Big Batch of Hot Chocolate
Unleash the power of a slow cooker to make a jumbo-sized batch of hot chocolate! Use the same strategy if making a big batch of mulled wine, hot toddies, hot buttered rum or any other toasty holiday libation.
Freeze Herbs in Olive Oil
It’s always wise to do as much prep as possible before the party but in addition to chopping up veggies the day before, you can also prep fresh herbs — and stuff them in an ice cube tray, adding olive oil and then freezing. When preparing your holiday feast and in need of herbs, simply grab a savoury cube from the freezer and pop into the pan for instant seasoning
Tiered Oven Rack
Maximized oven space by investing in layered oven racks, which will allow you to cook or warm more dishes which = less stress on you!
Use a Cheese Grater on Frozen Butter
When baking for the holidays, rather than waiting for cold, hard butter to thaw or trying to soften in the microwave, instead use a cheese grater to shred the desired amount for a particular recipe. No muss, no fuss!
Thank you so much for reading today’s blogmas day 11 post! Happy holidays and Merry Christmas and I’ll see you tomorrow for the last day of blogmas!
