Botanika Cafe {Gluten-free, Vegan, Plant-Based}, Ridgefield Ct
Last week I was on the phone with my mom and she mentioned this new cafe which opened in Ridgefield Connecticut called Botanika Cafe. It’s an organic plant-based vegan gluten-free cafe right on main street. As someone who eats GLUTEN-FREE and primarily PLANT-BASED, I KNEW I had to try them out!
Name: Botanika Cafe Ridgefield
Address: 424 Main St, Ridgefield, CT 06877
Website: https://www.botanikacafe.com/
What I ordered: Everything I ate was gluten-free. – Buffalo Cauliflower Wrap, Butternut Mac & Cheese, Peanut Butter cookie, Chickpea tuna free salad, Buckwheat chocolate chip cookie.
Buffalo Cauliflower Wrap- WOW! JUST WOW! This was INCREDIBLE! The flavor was IMMACULATE. There was the perfect amount of spice combined with sweetness. The vegetables were crunchy and soft and it was not heavy on the stomach. I cannot recommend this wrap enough. 10/10
Butternut Mac and Cheese- I recommend eating warm because cold isn’t the best. For vegan no cheese veggie Mac & Cheese, this was very tasty! They did an excellent job of masking the veggie taste to give the illusion of “Cheese”. It was creamy and the flavors (very mild spice) were HITTING THE SPOT! 8/10- there could be more “cheese” sauce, it was a tad dry.
Peanut Butter Cookie- 7/10. In my peanut butter cookies I like a strong peanut butter & sugary taste. Seeing as this is plant-based, there is a very small amount of sugar so if you are looking for a sweet sugary cookie then this is not for you. I thought the consistency was GREAT! It was not crumbly as many cookies tend to be and the center was soft & chewy. The peanut butter taste was very light and they added chocolate chips which was an interesting yet YUMMY touch. This cookie is definitely a healthy cookie and since it’s low on sugar you don’t feel bloated after which is AMAZING!
Chickpea Tuna Free Salad– WOW! The taste in this was INCREDIBLE! It had a very strong dill taste which I LOVE! The texture was very similar to your classic tuna salad and the veggies were finely chopped so it blended perfectly. The portions are perfect and it digests so easily and is very light on your stomach. The flavors were HITTING THE SPOT! 10/10
Buckwheat Chocolate Chip Cookie– 6/10. I am not a huge fan of buckwheat. I find it very dry and chewy and these cookies fell into this category. Once they warmed up to room temperature they softened up and were pretty enjoyable but overall they were dry and didn’t have a strong chocolate taste. Keep in mind, this is a plant-based cafe so these are supposed to be a healthier take on chocolate chip cookies, which these definitely are. If your looking for a healthy not sugary cookie, then these are perfect for you. They did add pecans to the mix.
Pros:
The food is DELICIOUS! The prices are reasonable (for a gluten-free plant-based cafe).
Cons:
Service takes awhile. I suggest ordering online and picking up because when you order to eat in, you will have to wait a bit.
I Recommend Ordering:
- Buffalo Cauliflower Wrap
- Butternut Mac & Cheese
Overall, I will definitely be back. The food is delicious, flavorful and best yet is GLUTEN-FREE & VEGAN!
