Marathon training – my longest run

January 9, 2020

January 9, 2020 – my longest run yet.

Although my run was only 1/2 mile longer than Monday’s, it was still my longest run since starting in December.

I went into my run today with a clear mind and a ton of energy and planned to make it 8.5- 9 miles, but halfway into my journey, I got really cold. I couldn’t feel my face, hands or backs of my legs since it was 15 degrees out. So, instead of adding those extra 2+ miles onto my 6.5-mile run I decided to only add 1/2 mile, and it was the best 1/2 mile yet. This goes to show you that you can go into a workout with a plan and that’s great! It’s great to aim high and push yourself but in the end, if you’re not feeling it then try for another day, and don’t beat yourself up over it. Instead of me becoming even colder than I was I decided that adding even 1/2 mile on is better than none. And am I upset about it, no. I’m not gonna beat myself up because I didn’t hit my goal, there’s always tomorrow. 🙂

Today I ran my longest run yet. I reached 7 miles and did so with a smile on my face. Tomorrow I will most likely do 1-3 miles, depending on how I feel and then possibly go out Saturday or Sunday for a light jog or just take a rest day/ do some yoga. I do plan to go skiing this weekend and no matter how much I run or workout skiing always leaves my legs wobbly. 🙂
