2020 Marathon training- going into month 2
Hi everyone! I am back with my marathon training updates after taking some time off of posting them because of blogmas. I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday season and a spectacular New year! I started the New Year off the best way, with a 6.5 mile run on New Years then another one today.
My training has been progressing very nicely and it’s showing with me being able to run over 6 miles. Now, saying I can run it may be a bit of a stretch because at least half of my run is uphill so I tend to jog then walk a little, repeat. My legs are still growing muscle so, for now, I am happy with where I am at but with more practice, I am hoping that by the end of January I can run the whole 6.5+ miles without stopping.
Timing: It takes me about 1 hour and 20 minutes to run 6.5 miles. Although that timing isn’t wonderful it’s where I want to be because from the beginning of December to January 3 my timing has been getting better and better. So with more practice and running, I am hoping to run my half-marathon in 1 hr 30 min which would bring my 6.5 miles to about 45 minutes give or take.
Food: I love to run on an empty stomach because for me eating then running just doesn’t work. So I wake up around 7 am and am out the door at 8 am and return around 9:15-9:20. When my runs were around 35-50 minutes I never had a problem with being hungry or thirsty but since I’ve been upping my mileage around the last 2 miles I get very hungry and thirsty which in turn makes me cranky and then I’m tired. So, I think I need to find some gels or bites to take with me during my run and maybe a small little water because it’s not a fun feeling. Luckily for Christmas, my dad did buy me a fanny pack with a very light and small water bottle with a little zipper in the front so barring any weight problems I am thinking of taking it for a spin in the next few weeks to see how it works.
Well, that’s it for now! I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and I will see y’all on Monday when I am back to regular 3 days a week at 7 a.m blogging. Have a great day!
