10 handy picnic hacks for the perfect party
It’s summer time which means the picnic season has arrived. Everywhere people are preparing for their Fourth of July bashes or just a simple seasonal gathering. Whatever you’re throwing it might as well be GREAT!
The last thing someone wants is to be a complete mess on the day of their party. Running all around, bottles breaking, burgers burning…… Instead you’re looking for a relaxing day so you can enjoyably celebrate this season with tons of fun and yummy food.
Let’s face it, one thing that is hard to come by, especially when you’re hosting a party, is calmness. There will always be something wrong/ some task to be completed that will raise your stress from 0-10. However, with the hacks that i’ve come up with hopefully none of this will apply to you. You really will be able to enjoy your party along with the food, company, and any other little things that you would have missed due to the hectic nature parties tend to bring.
Shower curtain tablecloth
Recently buy a patriotic/ summer designed table cloth only to get home and realize that it’s not waterproof. No need to worry because all you need to do is place a shower curtain, preferably a clean one underneath your table cloth and voila, it’s waterproof.
Cool drinks the quick way
Time is running out! People will be arriving any minute! The drinks aren’t cool! Try this hack to help you out → Wrap a cold wet paper towel around the warm drinks, place in the fridge and in under 30 minutes the drinks will be cold as ice 🙂 Don’t have 30 minutes? Instead place the drinks in the freezer.Just keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t freeze. Time: about 10-15 minutes to fully cool.
Cupcake wrapper popsicle stick
Dripping popsicle from the hot weather? Refer to the picture below from little things to see how it’s done.
Cupcake tray condiment holder
Run out of places to store the condiments? Try out this hack which uses a cupcake tray.
Bring the cooler with you
Going to the store to stock up on picnic foods? Bring the cooler with you so you won’t have to worry about anything melting. Then when you’re home there will be no need to transfer everything to the cooler. It will already be done.
No bowls no problem
Instead of searching for a chip bowl, easily make the chip bag into one. Simply fold down the edges, pull out the sides, and tuck in the bottom a tad.
Upgrade your utensil holder
Easy to carry and the perfect/fashionable place to store your party utensils.
No tablecloth blowing away on your watch
To avoid your table cloth blowing in the wind, make four holes with scissors opposite each other on the table cloth. Then loop a string through each of the four holes with a small rock attached/tied to the bottom. Then your table cloth will not blow away!
Label the chip bowls
Nothing is worse than picking up potato chips only to find that’s it not the flavor you originally thought. Instead, make a small sign and attach it to the front of the bowl so people know what they are eating.
Always have one type of each ‘lifestyle’ food
In my experience, since I have many food allergies, when I attend parties I usually have a hard time finding something I can eat. To avoid having a person struggle at your party, try to make at least one gluten free, paleo, dairy free or meat free dish so that hopefully everyone will be able to find something to eat.
