My Journey to the Marathon – Running Update – Running a Half Marathon

February 15, 2021

It’s been a hot minute since I have shared a running update and I know many of you are curious as to what the heck I’ve been up to these past few months! So, here goes…

The big question. Am I still running?

YES!

But…. not on the same level I was at this time last year. I still love it just as much, actually more now that I think about it but because of the heavy load between school, work, my Etsy, blogging, life in general, I decided to take a step back and instead of devoting 2 hours of my day to run I stick to 3-4 miles on the treadmill (frigid temps here in NY, brrr) 3-4 times a week. The other days I lift weights, yoga, stretching or light cardio.

But what about training for the Marathon?

That goal is still in my mind but Covid put a serious damper in it so for the time being any races I do will be “unofficial” and around my home. For instance, last summer to take the place of my NYC half marathon that was canceled due to Covid, I instead ran the 13.1 miles around where I live! So, this coming Summer and Fall I plan to do the same thing! Once the warmer weather starts peeking in, end of March-April I will hit the roads again and can finally start upping my miles to prepare for the virtual races. Plus, school is almost over so once April arrives I am nearing the end. Thankfully!

There are a few trails near where I live that are flat and perfect for running a race!

But you better bet that once Covid clears and races upon up I am towing my butt to the line and will FINALLY be able to run my race smack dab in the middle of NYC!

I hope you all have a great day! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
